JO:Unchained v2 *************************** JEDI KNIGHT II MODIFICATION *************************** 7/20/02 ================================================================ Mod Name: JO:Unchained Author: ETI_Caligula Website: http://www.extraterrestrial-intelligence.com JO:Unchained is an attempt to emulate the gameplay of the original Jedi Knight. Using faster game speed and lethal weapons, this mod provides non-stop action while still maintaining the balance of Jedi Outcast. Users will find their running speed comparable to DArk Forces2 : Jedi Knight, and their weapons much more powerful and easier to use than Raven's Jedi Outcast. JO: Unchained allows the game to be played comfortably with no force (NF). Where Raven's Jedi Outcast can be slow and cumbersome, JO:Unchained is quick and methodical; where Raven's Jedi Outcast has been 'nerfed', JO:Unchained has been 'amped'. It is a tribute to 'old school' NAR CTF players everywhere (you know who you are). ================================================================ *Mod Details* Gameplay was the focus of this mod design. Our goal was to create a mod that was fun to play, which had the 'spirit' of Dark Forces 2, and which would address what many perceived to be shortcomings in Raven's retail version of Jedi Outcast. *Movement* - Movement speed has been increased, no more CTF jog fests. Force speed has been increased proportionally. - Jump height has been increased to compare with JK1. - You can now do rocket jumps that make a difference. - You will no longer hurt yourself if you fall a short distance. Falling from great heights however, will still require a notice to your next of kin. - Just like in Jedi Knight, you spawn with 100 health and 100 shields. - The maximum shield is 200 with no countdown, also a JK inspired change. - Self-damage is not halved in the mod. You suffer full punishment for careless fire or rocket jumping. *Weapons* - Changes to the player's speed and shield configuration have made your character much harder to hit. So we've changed the way each weapon fires (some more that others) and we've given each weapon enough damage to make them useful against such fast-moving targets. With this mod, nothing beats a good blaster at your side. General Solo would be proud. *Items* - You can now pick up weapons to get more ammo. Longer respawn times for weapons. These should make loading up initially slower, but reloading faster. - Shield recharge units (stations) will charge themselves twice as fast and have double capacity. They recharge players up to 200 shields. - In No Force games, you can use your bacta to heal teammates, by pressing the Force Team Heal or Force Team Energize button. The range is the same as with Team Heal rank 1. No target painting though, because that is a client side feature. - Other item changes include increased sentry turret lifespan and stationary shield strength doubled. *Force* - Changes were made in an attempt to bring balance to the force. Most notably, Force Absorb no longer fully protects you from the Dark Side. Dark powers have slight effect over Absorb of the same rank. (Example..."Program Files\LucasArts\Jedi Outcast\GameData\unchained") 2. Extract "unchained.zip" into the "unchained" folder. 3. Start the game. Go to "setup" , then click "mods" , then load the mod. 4. Start a server. Cheers.
