Call of Duty Guide/Walkthrough - PC, PC Walkthrough - IGN
Weapons Locker

In Call of Duty, you get to experience the war from three different perspectives. The three separate Allied Campaigns also means three separate sets of weapons to familiarize yourself with. And let's not forget that you will encounter plenty of German weapons you can pick up and use along the way. Just because you come across a weapon does not mean you should pick it up. Take a look at the weapons for each military. We've included some basic information and chosen the best weapon from each group.

Here are the stats to consider when choosing one weapon over another:

Range - Long-range means it's a good sniper rifle but may not necessarily be the right choice in close quarters. Medium-range is good for fights up-close or battles across a trench or street.

Rate of Fire - The better the RoF, the more shots you can get off. Generally you want a better RoF for any weapon you are using in close quarters and weapons with slower RoF are better-suited for long-range combat and sniping.

Damage - This should be pretty obvious. The higher the damage, the quicker the kill.

Mobility - This determines how much the weapon slows you down when you have it drawn. A slow weapon means it's heavy, bulky, or both and shouldn't be used if you need to move quickly.

Rounds - How many rounds a weapon can hold indicates how often you'll need to reload. If the weapon has a high RoF, ammo will deplete much quicker.

United States
M1A1 Carbine
Range:
Medium
Rate of Fire: Medium
Damage: Moderate
Mobility: Fast
Rounds: 15
Standard rifle that will certainly get you through some long nights in the war. While the M1A1 Carbine is a capable choice for sniping at medium range, it is not as effective as other rifles from either the U.S. or Germany. However, the M1A1 can also be used to good effect in face-to-face combat as well.

M1 Garand
Range:
Long
Rate of Fire: Medium
Damage: High
Mobility: Fast
Rounds: 8
The M1 Garand is a much better sniping tool than the M1A1 Carbine. With greater range and greater damage, the Garand's only drawback is the paltry two bullets that can be loaded at any time. This means you'll need to reload often, making the Garand only a good choice when you have lots of cover and no enemies pressing the advance.

Thompson
Range:
Short
Rate of Fire: Fast
Damage: High
Mobility: Fast
Rounds: 30
Say 'ello to mah little fren'! The Thompson is a great choice for a short-range weapon. It delivers a large spread, holds plenty of ammo, and offers good damage. It doesn't have good range, however, so it is best used when rushing through houses or for taking on Nazis pushing their advance.

Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR)
Range:
Long
Rate of Fire: Fast
Damage: High
Mobility: Slow
Rounds: 20
A solid rifle for picking off enemies, it may be a better choice than the Garand, depending on what you want out of it. The Browning is bulky and will slow your movement, so it should not be used when you need to get across open areas quickly. However, its solid rate of fire makes it accessible for face-to-face combat in a pinch.

Springfield
Range:
Very Long
Rate of Fire: Slow
Damage: Very High
Mobility: Medium
Rounds: 5
If you're looking for the king of American sniping weapons, look no further. The Springfield has the best range and maxes out damage to allow for one-hit chest kills on occasion. It's only drawback is it's very slow rate of fire, making it the ideal sniping weapon from cover, but not the best choice in a situation where time is vital.

Colt .45
Range:
Short
Rate of Fire: Medium
Damage: Moderate
Mobility: Very Fast
Rounds: 7
There are only two pistols in the game, the Colt .45 and the Luger. They share many of the same properties, making either one suitable for close combat. The .45 is a good choice if you need to conserve ammo (or run out!) but certainly isn't the gun you want to use when running into a heated battle.

M2 Fragmentation Grenade
Range:
Medium
Rate of Fire: Medium
Damage: Very High
Mobility: Very Fast
Rounds: 1
Ah, yes. The grenade. It's easy to forget you have these in your possession, but grenades can flush out nesting enemies and can blow them up too. Even if a grenade doesn't kill an enemy, it provides damage to anyone in the area, making them easier to kill when they come running. Just be sure you don't throw it against a wall and have it bounce back at you, numbskull.

United Kingdom
Lee-Enfield
Range:
Long
Rate of Fire: Slow
Damage: Very High
Mobility: Fast
Rounds: 10
A solid rifle that does fantastic damage, the Lee-Enfield's only drawback is its slow action. This is not a viable rifle when the enemy is pressing the attack, but if you need to snipe, you have yourself a prime choice.

Sten
Range:
Medium
Rate of Fire: Fast
Damage: Moderate
Mobility: Very Fast
Rounds: 32
The British version of a Tommy-Gun, the Sten is a bit more stable. It can't dish out a lot of damage, but it is very light and is perfect in close quarters. Forget about picking off enemies from afar, though. This one is for when you are busting through rooms, not for cherry-picking Hanz from afar.

Bren LMG
Range:
Long
Rate of Fire: Fast
Damage: High
Mobility: Slow
Rounds: 30
A solid machinegun. It has a strange design but it's long range and high rate of fire make it the best among British weapons. More useful for laying the law down on enemies quickly, it can do well to pick off hiding enemies in a pinch. This is one you should never trade in.

Colt .45
Range:

MK1 Fragmentation Grenade
Range:

Russia
PPSh
Range:
Short
Rate of Fire: Very Fast
Damage: Moderate
Mobility: Fast
Rounds: 71
The Russian Thompson gun, the PPSh looks cool, fires fast, but doesn't do much damage. The short range and poor accuracy make it a less-than-desirable choice for battle. Any chance you get at a better German weapon, take it.

Mosin-Nagant
Range:
Long
Rate of Fire: Slow
Damage: Very High
Mobility: Medium
Rounds: 5
The Russian rifle's only weakness is a slow rate of fire. Otherwise this weapon is a good tool for sniping. Certainly not intended for face-to-face combat, this gun will see you through 80% of the combat in the Russian Campaign.

Scoped Mosin-Nagant
Range:
Very Long
Rate of Fire: Slow
Damage: Very High
Mobility: Medium
Rounds: 5
The scoped version of the Mosin-Nagant has incredible range and can hit anything you can see on-screen. The perfect sniper weapon, this baby will be your miracle worker in Russia and Poland.

Luger
Range:
Short
Rate of Fire: Medium
Damage: Moderate
Mobility: Very Fast
Rounds: 8
A capable firearm good in a pinch, but not meant as your default weapon. It's comparable to the Colt .45 and looks cooler. For that alone you should make the switch when you come across one.

RGD-33 Stick Grenade
Range:
Medium
Rate of Fire: Medium
Damage: Very High
Mobility: Very Fast
Rounds: 1
Stick hand grenades, why did you fall out of favor? Not only do they look cool, but hand grenades are excellent tools for clearing out entrenched soldiers. Toss it in a nest and watch them run.

Germany
MP40
Range:
Medium
Rate of Fire: Fast
Damage: Moderate
Mobility: Fast
Rounds: 32
The German equivalent of the Thompson, the MP40 is less-effective than the American submachine gun and therefore less desirable. With only moderate damage but decent range, to MP40 isn't bad if you are out of ammo with another submachine gun, but it should never be your first choice.

MP44
Range:
Long
Rate of Fire: Fast
Damage: High
Mobility: Medium
Rounds: 30
A solid choice, this assault rifle closely resembles an AK-47 in terms of power and versatility. It's a better choice than the Thompson and can provide a powerful sniping tool and a great close-quarters weapon. However, the MP44 isn't that common among Nazi soldiers, so ammo will be limited.

Kar98k
Range:
Long
Rate of Fire: Slow
Damage: Very High
Mobility: Medium
Rounds: 5
The standard issue German rifle, this weapon will never run low on ammo, because there's always more to be found on the bodies of dead Nazis. It's a better choice than the U.S. M1A1 Carbine, so if that's what's currently in your possession, don't be hesitant about making the switch. Though some of the better U.S. rifles offer more potency, the Kar98k is a good default to go to anytime you need a good long-range weapon.

Scoped Kar98k
Range:
Very Long
Rate of Fire: Slow
Damage: Very High
Mobility: Medium
Rounds: 5
With a scope attached to a Kar98k, it becomes a much more effective sniper rifle.

FG42
Range:
Very Long
Rate of Fire: Fast
Damage: High
Mobility: Medium
Rounds: 12
One of the best weapons in Call of Duty, if you see an FG42, you should almost always pick it up. The FG42 works effectively as both a sniper rifle (thanks to its x4 zoom scope) and full-auto ability. Change the rate of fire (M) and you can mow down enemies. Versatile, powerful, perfect.

Luger
Range:

Panzerfaust
Range:
Short
Rate of Fire: One Shot
Damage: Very High
Mobility: Slow
Rounds: 1
It's nice of the German's to have brought a rocket launcher to the party, because you'll need this in several missions. With only one load, you have to make your shot count. Grab a Panzerfaust when it matters to an objective, but don't count on having one in your back pocket just in case you suddenly need it. The Panzerfaust targeting reticle is very broad, so make sure to get your target (which should also be quite sizable) within the full reticle before firing.

Stielhandgranate
Range:

On to Allied Campaign...
