MUTATIONS README Version 1.1.2 (July 2008) Mutations (c) 2008 ***************************************************************** BUG FIXES ***************************************************************** Version 1.1.2 incorporates a few minor enhancements. The changes do not greatly affect game play. There is no reason to download this version and restart the game. This release also includes the SHIFTER fix which should allow it to run with SHIFTER 1.8.1. Level 1 Map -- Redesined the wooden plank trap so player can side step the plank. Removed the cutout the player could duck into. -- Moved a barrel that would, at times, indirectly destroy a Phiatoselem container preventing the player from receiving skill points for its destruction. -- Fixed the problem where the Secondary goal of destroying all 3 Phiatoselem containers would not be completed. -- Instead of a hidden hole in floor in the mirror room, added a breakable mover the player triggers falls through. Level 1 Code -- Recoded so player is now allowed to shut down all cameras after disposing of the MJ12 troops in Room 14 and hacking the security computer. Previous versions would not allow the camera shut- down if all cameras had been activated. -- Recoded so the level map is not diplayed while the player is swimming. In previous versions, if player was swimming in a tunnel and the level map was toggled, upon returning to game play, player would find himself stuck in position. after returning to game play. ***************************************************************** INSTALLATIONS NOTES ***************************************************************** **THE NSIS MUTATIONS INSTALLER WILL NOT OVERWRITE ORIGINAL DEUS EX GAME FILES. **Windows 98 -- No known issues **For XP systems, the readme file will not be displayed from the final install screen if selected. You must use the shortcut "Start-Programs- Mutations-Change Mutations 3D Render Device". However, do not select Relaunch Deus Ex, instead select "Cancel" and relaunch use the mutations desktop icon. Additional video drivers for Deus Ex can be found at http://cwdohnal.home.mindspring.com/utglr/ *********************************************************************** GAME PLAY *********************************************************************** A set of 6 single player maps the Deus Ex die hard. In this Fan-Made mission, MJ12 has recovered an unknown chemical agent from a crashed spacecraft. You play as JC Denton, a trained augmented UNATCO agent, as Gary Savage sends you on a mission to disrupt illegal genetic experiments. You must find your way through 2 dungeon like levels, possibly fighting off mutants created by MJ12 scientists, to reach the main underground complex where the experiments are conducted. Since this is small mission not every weapon and augmentation is available. While not explicitly designed with stealth in mind, there are a few areas where stealth activity might be exploited, but if you don't act quickly it can turn against you. On the "Start New Game" menu, certain skills are set to "Trained". These skills can be further developed during the course of the game play. Other skills are set to "Master". There are no initial skill points. You earn points during game play. Selecting the difficulty level immediately takes you to the intro cinematic. Playing "Easy" or "Medium" affects availability of items and number of cameras in the first map. *********************************************************************** COPYRIGHTS AND DISCLAIMERS *********************************************************************** This Fan-Made Mission was not made and is not supported by Ion Storm and Eidos Interactive.
