Finding Fort
Davis |

The last
stretch |

This mission is either incredibly easy or
incredibly hard, and the decision is yours. You
don't have to engage a single creeper along the
way - but you can pick up some nice new weapons
(such as a Hades Missile turret) if you choose to
do so.
You'll begin the mission just after entering the
region marked "unexplored mesa area" on
the map. You'll need to find a path through the
desert back to 285. It's simple: At the first
fork, take the right road. Stay on this road,
with the steep ridge to your right. You'll pass a
number of Desert Foxes, but just keep moving.
You'll see a few oilrigs and a water tower up the
road. The road will end here at a T intersection.
Make a sharp right and head up over the hill. At
the bottom, you'll see another turnoff with a
sign saying Fort Davis. Turn right on the road
heading up the hill and prepare yourself for a
jump.
You don't need Nitrous Oxide to make it over the
ravine. You'll survive it as long as you're going
between 75 and 90 mph. After the jump, there is a
sharp hairpin turn guarded by some turrets.
Beyond the turn is a bridge and beyond that some
rough terrain. Hold tight - Fort Davis is just a
short distance down the road. |
