Setup Configuration

The Setup Tab is the first page in the BotMixer configuration interface.  It contains the main settings that define the way BotMixer selects Bots.

Blue, Red and Single Team

These three horizontal groups define how BotMixer selects bots for each team when required.  So if you are playing non-team games, such as DeathMatch, then the Single Team group is relevant, whereas the Blue and Red groups are relevant for team based games, such as Team DeathMatch.

Source Type
This is the basic option that controls how the bot selection process.  The options are:

Global Bot Cycle List
The Global Bot Cycle List is used.  Note that it is called "Global" because only one exists and can therefore be used by Blue, Red or Single Teams.

Bot Team
A drop-down-list will appear below, allowing you to select a static Bot Team as the source.

Team Group
A drop-down-list will appear below, allowing you to select a static Team Group as the source.  For each individual match, BotMixer will select a Bot Team from the Team Group at random.

Team Group (Static)
This works the same as the standard Team Group option (above) except that the Bot Team is randomly chosen only once from the Team Group at the beginning of the session and remains until the end of the session.  This is useful if you want to play a complete game session against a one Bot Team (per side) chosen at random.

Game Type Group
A drop-down-list will appear below, allowing you to select a static Game Type Group as the source.  Note that if a Team Group is selected for a game type then the same rules as the Team Group source above apply.

Shuffle Team
This option is visible when the result of a the Source Type setting (above) is a single Bot Team.  When the Shuffle Team option is enabled, the Bot Team in use is shuffled before it is applied to the match.  (See Use Team Leader option below.)

Use Team Leader
When a Bot Team is selected, it may be that not all bots in that team will be used (See Player Counts option below.)  When you construct a Bot Team using the Bot Team Editor, you may select a bot as a Team Leader.  This has the effect of guaranteeing that this Bot is always selected when the Bot Team is used.  Even when the Bot Team is shuffled using the Shuffle Team option, a Team Leader is still the first bot to be selected from the Bot Team!

Team Symbol
At the very right of the Blue and Red Team groups on the Setup page is a box that allows you to manually set the Team Symbol to be used for the respective side.  If you select a Bot Team as the source then its Team Symbol is displayed automatically.  Normally when you select a source other than Bot Team, then team symbol box will appear blank, meaning that the Team Symbol will correspond to the resultant Bot Team, when the team is active in-game.  In the case of the Global Bot Cycle List , if the Team Symbol is blank then it will be random for each game.

If you left-click on the Team Symbol box then the team symbol selection menu will open allowing you to select a different symbol, or alternatively you can right-click on the box and a new symbol will be selected at random.  If you manually select a Team Symbol using these methods then they override any automated choices.

Global Bot Cycle List

This group of options relates specifically to the Global Bot Cycle List.

Shuffle List
When the list of bots is created, this option will cause the list to be shuffled before use.  It is shuffled every time it is rebuilt.

Rebuild
This button will allow you to manually rebuild (or reset) the bot list.  As the list persists throughout various game sessions, you can use this option force the list to be rebuilt.  Useful if you install or uninstall bots from UT2004.  You will hear a sound to indicate that the list has been rebuilt, otherwise you will hear nothing if there is no need to rebuild the list.

Miscellaneous

Match Player Counts
MapMixer has the ability to adjust the number of players for each match, depending on the recommended player numbers per map, along with other MapMixer player count settings.  If you want this to remain as normal when using BotMixer then you must enable the BotMixer Match Player Counts option, otherwise when a Bot Team is selected, the whole Team is used!

If you wish to use the entire team in your Bot Teams then switch off the BotMixer Match Player Counts option.

See the Notes section in General Concepts for important information regarding the Match Player Counts option.
