Installation

MapMixer is supplied in ZIP form.  Installation is manual but very easy.  (Be sure to have a quick read of the Usage section to get started on how to use MapMixer.)  MapMixer was previously supplied in UMOD form but a few people were having problems with this distribution format.

Manual Installation

To install MapMixer, simply copy the Help and System folders in the archive into your UT2004 folder.  You do not need to do anything more than that - even for network games!

For your information, the following is a list of important files that are essential to the operation of the entire MapMixer system and are installed by copying them into the UT2004/System folder.

Networking

MapMixer is split into three parts (packages):

Server Packages
UT2004/System/MapMixer.u
This package is required on the machine that is hosting a game - whether it is a single player game or a network server game.  This is the package that contains the Mutator.

UT2004/System/MapMixerGUI.u
This package is only required on the host machine that will edit the MapMixer settings using the Mutator Configuration interface.

Client Package
UT2004/System/MapMixerClient-xxx.u (where xxx is the version number)
This package is required on all machines wishing to use client-side features of mapmixer, whether the machine is a server or client.  Each version of the Server Package (MapMixer.u) requires a specific version of the Client Package (MapMixerClient-xxx.u), this is why the filename contains the version xxx, where xxx is a number like 001 or 100 etc.

Server Setup
You DO NOT need to manually add a Server Packages line for this package in the UT2004.ini file - MapMixer will automatically add its client package to each map's server packages list at run-time.  When setting up a Server, you only need copy the files to the appropriate folders and start the game, no ini file editing is required.
