Configuration |
The seventh page of the MapMixer Configuration allows you to create your own customised game types.
On the right side of this Tab there are 3 sections containing the properties for your custom game type. Only one section is shown at a time and ou can get to each one by clicking on one of the three buttons ("Edit Desc", "Edit Rules" and "Edit Mutators") located at the bottom right.
In order to be able to save a game type there are 3 mandatory items you have to provide. This are located in the first section.
This first section is where you specify the important identifying parts of your custom game type.
Game Name
This is the unique name for your custom game type. For example,
"Instagib DeathMatch".
Game Acronym
This is the unique short identifier for your custom game type.
For example "IGDM".
Base Game Type
This drop-down list displays a list of standard game types
that you can base your new game type on. So you can expect to see
DeathMatch, Capture the Flag, Double Domination, Onslaught, Mutant, Invasion
etc...
Player Limits
This check box allows you to optionally override the current
session's Player Count Limits if they fall outside the range specified.
When enabled, two edit boxes Lo and Hi appear, indicating what the
range of the Player Counts are for this game type. For example, if you
were creating a Custom Game Type for "Deathmatch 1on1", you may like to specify
these numbers as Lo=2 and Hi=2. This would mean that when this custom game
types is played, it will only have player counts of exactly two. This
would be of use if you were switching between different game types.
Map Source
This drop-down list allows you to select what will be the map source
for your game type. The two options are:
Standard
A list of Map Prefixes is shown below. This list determine what maps will be included in your custom game type. You may include any number of map prefixes.Below the Map Prefix list is another drop-down list: Map Filter. This allows you to optionally include a Map List Filter (created in the Map List Editor). If you were creating a Custom Game Type for "Deathmatch 1on1" you may like to create a Map List filter that only shows maps of a certain player number, or only maps with the letters "1on1" in their map name.
Map List
Alternatively, you may simply wish to specify maps in a Custom Game Type using a map list created in the Map List Editor. A drop-down list Map List will be shown, listing all the current map lists.
Map Prefixes
This group of check boxes lists all the available map prefixes, which
determine what maps will be included in your custom game type. You may
include any number of map prefixes.
Note that if you specify none or all of the map prefixes then it indicates that ALL map prefixes will be used as possible sources.
The second section displays a list of available rules that are taken from your Base Game Type. If there is no Base Game Type selected then no game rules will be visible. You may add and modify and number of these game rules for your game type. However, you do not need to include all the rules - just the ones you want to make unique to this game type. A Game Rules List acts as the default set of rules, and the Custom Game Type overrides these.
The third section displays all the available mutators installed. Enable any of the mutators that you wish to make specific to this game type.
