To get the menu to stop scrolling automatically, as though the gas petal is constantly being held down, and the menu is linked to the gas petal:

There is a menu option for the menu scrolling to be mapped to an axis, and it probably is mapped to the gas petal if you have this problem. As it scrolls, it will stop if you put the gas half-way down. Do this to get it to stop on the accelarate function. Then map accelerate to the gas petal. Note:

There are three steps to mapping an axis in Outrun. The first is to select the axis by activating it. When the menu tells you to enter the select button, it means to use a/the select button on the controller (even though every other "select" input means to use enter on the keyboard). The "X" button worked for the Logitech Driving Force GT. The second step is to put the axis at the rest position, then enter the select button again ("X", in this case). The third step is to activate the axis to its fullest, and "select" again.

After mapping the gas petal to the accelerate function, that should automatically unmap it from menu scrolling.
