New Armour in Slash'EM

Table of New Pieces of Armour

This table shows all the pieces of armour which exist in Slash'EM but not in vanilla Nethack. ``Appearance'' is what the item looks like when unidentified, and a ``Random'' in this column indicates that this item's appearance is randomly chosen from a set of descriptions. ``MC'' stands for magic cancellation.

Armour Effects

Robes in Slash'EM are not like robes in Nethack. They are worn in the body armour slot, but do not interfere with spellcasting or a Monk's martial arts. A robe of power enhances your spellcasting ability (its enchantment makes no difference). A robe of weakness sets your strength to 3 (plus any bonuses from rings of gain strength), except that wearing a robe of weakness and gauntlets of power simultaneously has no effect on your strength. Robes are not randomly generated, but ordinary robes can be found on wraiths, wights, barrow wights and Nazgul, and robes of all types can be found on priests.

When you wear a poisonous cloak and you are not poison resistant, you will be poisoned and lose some strength and the cloak will auto-identify. Even if you wear the cloak over body armour, it will still poison you. If you are poison resistant, it will merely ``feel a little itchy'' and will not auto-identify.

Wearing a fedora adds one point to your Charisma. If the fedora is not cursed, it appears to act like a blessed luckstone in terms of preventing good luck from timing out, although not in terms of granting you extra luck.
