Welcome to The Unofficial Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory Strategy Guide.
Here, you'll find tips on shooting and aiming, classes, weapons, tactics,
strategy, config tweaking and scripts, exploits, map walkthroughs, custom
maps, trickjumping, etc. Much of this also applies to
RTCW as well.
It is meant for both beginners and advanced players in mind; however, if
you're brand-spanking new then please read the manual first! Also, check out the
FAQ if you are looking for a quick answer to some question or problem. If you have any ideas or questions about this strategy guide, feel free to
send an email. I am constantly revising and updating this guide, so if you
want to know more about something in particular let me know and I'll do my best
to cover it.
Also if anyone's interested in contributing some article or something to the
guide, drop me a line :) For example, there are a lot of custom maps but I was
only able to write reviews of the ones I've played. I'll make sure to give you
credit for anything you submit. See detailed credits News: 01/30/2009: Hex-/Quakejump secret pathway demos added, french translation upcoming Added a demo that shows the junction to axis level in Hex-Trickjump if you play allies. Pretty old one I know, still usefull to someone I hope. Rarely known are the two secret rooms at quakejump, demo added as well. Check them out here. $3+ The Swamp Thing from Belgium offered to review and rework the pieces of the french translation for this site, that I still have left. Thanks a lot for that! So hopefully, we can see all the ET-Guide 'en francais' again soon! Merci beaucoup, Swamp! ;) 01/24/2009: Caen MG-Exploit demo added, Fueldump camp-spots added Just added the above exploit; check it out here. Also note the link to the etpromapscript preventing it. Pretty old one, but strange enough, it's little known. Also restored the camping-spot collection for Fueldump. ;) 01/21/2009: Starting Site-Update this weekend As you might have noticed, the site is somewhat outdated due to its long downtime. Tonight, I'll start to update things like removing dead links/filling in new ones, etc. If you have anything to contribute, like good links, new trickjump-demos, tips/tricks to share with the ET-community, just send an email. You'll be credited for your work, of course! :) EDIT: Links updated. 01/18/2009: Unofficial ET-Guide fully restored! By Jan. 19th, the entire Unofficial ET-Guide is restored and online! All pages have been updated to their latest status as it was when the old site went offline! Enjoy surfing the site; there are however, minor changes on the 2-do (like colored text, removal of dead links, etc.). 01/16/2009: TJ-Demos Railgun restored As the headlins states, all demos for Railgun-Jumps recovered and set online. 01/15/2009: TJ-Demos Battery and Radar restored Yesterday and today I restored all but 3 or 4 trickjump demos of the old site for battery and radar. Thanks to da-didi of wolfmap.de for pointing out some site-remains stored at http://web.archive.org. There is however a big hassle with this as I have to redo almost all screenshots as they haven't been stored. So restoring the latest versions of the other trickjump-pages will take some time. But it will be done. :) 01/14/2009: Unofficial ET-Guide online again! Glad to inform you that I could recover a ripped copy of velocities' Guide. It was one of the few sites I constantly visited when I first came in contact with ET and it was sad to see it going down, probably for real-life reasons. I got one myself of course but I wanted to keep a more or less static copy alive for ppl who seek info on the game, shouldn't be too much work. :) Certainly I can put new stuff here and there, if you have any to spare (like tj-demos). Important Info:This strategy guide was originally written and published by a guy named velocity. Unfortunately, his site went offline approx. one year ago. I still had a copy of the site, ripped and zipped while it was still there as I was working on a german translation, and I think velocities' work is worth to be kept online. There was still one site-index up at an external URL (that now holds a spam site), however, it does not seem that anyone attends to it as all links direct to the original site which is down. All credits go to velocity as it is his work, as well as to the many contributors who sent content. The TJ-demos however are gone to a large extent. If you still have any, I'd be glad to re-up them. 5/25: Caen guide; New tactics, trickjumps, trickplants; Downloadable version Lots of good news today! A bunch of people e-mailed me and sent in some great stuff to add to the guide: Amish Sniper sent in an awesome map guide for Caen. It's got plenty of screenshots, summary of objectives, and some info on strategies as well. Check it out here. I might redo some of the current map guides to be more like this one :) Also, Amish said he might consider writing another one of these (wooh!) in the future. Ragnar-X- sent in a huge list of about 30 tips to add to the guide, along with a ton of new screenshots!! Here's a summary of what has been added:
Andy Blueman (a.k.a. [G-TAP]Genocide) from www.g-tap.org, sent in a trickjump demo on Radar, which lets you jump on to the garage roof near the east radar parts. This way, you can get to the east parts without stepping through any mines. I have also added some new shrub-specific tactics, like using shoving to jump higher, etc. Credit for most of these goes to SubstandardJones, who explained these tactics on the forums. Also, Vitek Cermak and I were discussing using the guard shack on fueldump to jump on, and get inside. He did some testing, and reported that it doesn't work with only 2 guys, but if you have 3 guys, you can use 1 dude to boost the other 2 onto the guard shack, and one of them can boost the other into the fueldump. Anyways, this would mainly be useful on a pub where teams are large; if you ever get into the situation where 3 guys manage to get through the tunnels, you have an engineer but no covert ops, then this jump may be useful. Today I also made a downloadable version of this guide, as GOD*Leviathan suggested. This way, people who connect to the net with a modem can read the guide offline. It comes with text and pictures, demos, videos, and other "extras" aren't included. 5/19: Fueldump roof jump; Plans for the Guide Do you want to jump on top of the fueldump roof? Go check out Rein Inze's awesome demo which he submitted, in the map trickjumps section. Unlike my cheapass demo which used a tweaked g_gravity value, this demo was made with standard etpro settings. Meez from enemy-territory.com, has also contacted me and offered to send a demo of the same jump, done with a SINGLE jump instead of a 2 jump bunny hop. Will post more info when I know more about it :) Also, I've been getting lots of great ideas for things to add to the site... If you're curious, here's some of the plans I have for the site in the near future:
5/16: Moved the site I have just moved the site to LunarPages because we went past our monthly bandwidth limit with our old free webhost. (We had about 8,000 visits in the past 5 days!!) Since I spent a lot of time figuring out the hosting situation, I'm a bit behind on finishing the last 3 map guides... I will try to get them up within the next 2-3 days. |
