Basics
Character Types
A variety of character types exist within the world of Hitman 2. Some of these people pose no threat to 47's mission and in some instances, can actually be allies (yes, I know what I said earlier -- remain alert regardless). Choose your targets wisely and as always?watch your back!
Disguises
If you thought the Metal Gear Solid series was challenging in terms of stealth and espionage, Hitman 2 to some extent is very similar. As 47, you'll need to skillfully eliminate certain enemies throughout the game and assume their identity. Some disguises work better than ot here's as they will determine the level of suspicious among your enemies. In essence, this element is Hitman's linchpin to throw off your pursuers and gain access to otherwise inaccessible areas.
To successfully complete this highly essential function, you must silently sneak up on the designated target. Fiberwire is one of the easiest methods (though any weapon equipped with a silencer will achieve the same result). Once they're unconscious, walk up to them until an action window is be displayed on the screen. Select "Change Clothes" to assume their identity. It's a good idea to hide their bodies in a concealed area using the "Drag" command so as to have enough time to pass through sensitive areas in your current disguise. You'll have limited time before enemies discover their comrades in their birthday suits. Useful messages will appear at the bottom of the screen to alert you whether you're at risk. In the event that they're looking for a suspicious character which matches your description, you'll need to assume a new identity. Either that, or be ready to negotiate a survival plan with your weapon in tow.
Completing a Mission
Upon making a hit, be sure that you've completed all the other objectives. A rating screen will be displayed to show your performance. Statistics are presented as a last mission score and an overall score. The categories are as the following:
Press the menu selection button to advance to the next mission.
Pointers for being a successful Hitman
Fans of the original Hitman will discover that 47's enemies are a lot more sensitive to movement. Standard walking is essential, lest you'll be at risk of alerting guards / authorities / enemies of suspicious activity.
Keep an eye on the threat meter, displayed in the top left area of your screen under the health bar. This meter indicates the level of danger which 47 is facing. The more the meter pulses, the greater the danger. Be especially concerned when the meter is red. Listen for audio cues too, though you generally don't even want to wait for those to happen at all. Use this feature often as it can often alert you to a potential problem of a failed disguise.
Be cautious by using the Keyhole Mode ("look through keyhole" feature), this will ensure that you can safely enter new areas without being detected.
There are multiple ways to complete any particular level. If your current course of action doesn't work, try a new approach. A new disguise, a different access point -- the alternatives are quite extensive. Experiment and discover the possibilities available to you.
Bullets can pass through most doors and nearly all windows. However, be cautious of alerting nearby guards patrolling the area.
Sound is a crucial element to your success. Enemies can detect your movement simply by running, while an audible heartbeat is a sign of danger -- the enemy might just be getting suspicious.
Unlike the cartoons, 47s disguises doesn't mean you can move about without drawing some attention. Suspicious behavior is more likely in your current disguise will still draw attention. Therefore, it's advisable to walk instead of running in well--traveled areas, or else guards (or even civilians) may take notice of you.
