The Favourite Maps feature allows you to place your favourite maps into the current session's map list by adding them at a regular interval. This way you are more likely to play maps that you really like, especially if MapMixer is set to automatically create the map list using all available maps. It is activated in the main setup and configured in the Favourite Maps page.
Note that currently the Favourite Maps feature is not available when manually switching game types.
The first thing that you need to do is build a map list or map lists of your favourite maps. There are two basic ways you can do this.
Single Map List
You can create a map list that contains any number of maps and game
types.
Map List For Each Game Type
Alternatively you might like to create a favourites map list for each
game type, eg one for DeathMatch, Capture the Flag etc...
You can then pick either of the two ways to let MapMixer decide where to source favourite maps from. Which option you choose will depend on how you intend to use the Favourite Maps feature.
Note that you can use the console command AddToFav when you are playing a map to add it to a corresponding map list called "Favourites (???)", eg "Favourites (Bombing Run)". You can also use the console command addtolist to add a map to a specific list. You could use the "Favourites (???) naming convention or you could use your own.
Favourite maps are added to a session map list by either replacing or inserting a map every so often.
Each map's game type is taken into consideration when either inserting or replacing maps using the Favourite Map List(s). The resultant game type for each map depends on how MapMixer is configured.
The three things you have to consider when deciding upon how you want the Favourite Maps option to work are:
These options, together, decide what the resultant game type of a favourite map will be that is either inserted or replaced in a position in the list.
Here's how the options work with each other:
