Operation Four
The final operation is also, naturally, the most difficult. In the final six missions, you'll face a variety of challenges, from head-to-head close-range battles to knocking out a speeding supply train. Both long-range and close-range weaponry will serve you well, but stick to the heavier Mechs not only for their durable armor but for their ability to carry ample ammunition and weapons.
Mission One
Mission Objective: Hinder enemy communications by taking out three relays in the area. Destroy the supply train after it enters the station but before it escapes.
Primary Objectives: Destroy north tower at Op. Able. Destroy south tower at Op. Charlie. Destroy east tower at Op. Dog. Destroy supply train at Op. Baker.
Secondary Objective: Destroy Smoke Jaguar Forces.
Difficulty: Hard
Mech Recommendation: A heavy but fast Mech with long and close-range weaponry.
This mission can be tough, mainly because it's difficult to reach the supply train in time. Once it leaves the station, you're pretty much out of luck and the mission immediately ends in a failure. Though there are several ways to beat this mission, here's one that works:
Immediately approach Op. Baker . You'll see a mountain up ahead with paths leading left and right. Take the right path so the mountain remains on your left (if you take the left path, you'll have to deal with five Mechs at once). Continue until you reach a lake. Around this time, two Caldron-Born Mechs patrolling the area will engage. Order your lancemates to engage the Caldron-Born and continue advancing toward Op. Baker. To the left of your position, three other Mechs, a Bushwacker, a Shadowcat and an Avatar, might also come to join the fight. Just keep moving to Op. Baker and your lancemates will battle them all if necessary (and perhaps take quite a pounding).
Try to reach the train station as soon as possible, Destroying the supply train is the most difficult objective in the mission. |
Continue to approach the station; your path should be fairly clear. The train should arrive shortly after you do. Around this time you'll spot two Thors coming from the right side of the station. As soon as the train has docked, destroy it, completing the most difficult objective on this mission. If the Thors are close, then try to engage them from long range, using your targeting computer and zoom view to go after quick headshot kills. If they aren't close enough yet, try to retreat to your lancemates, who should almost be finished with their battle.
Order the lancemates to assist in defeating the Thors. As you move close to Op. Able, three harasser tanks and more Thors engage. Once again, get your lancemates to assist with the large Mechs while you eliminate the tanks. After this area is clear, you can safely call the Mobile Field Base from the starting point to Op. Able where you can rearm and repair your Mech as well as your lancemates. Destroy the three communication towers at Op. Able to complete another objective.
Next, head straight for Op. Charlie. If you have a BAP loaded on your Mech, you'll notice some Mechs positioned behind Op. Charlie. Keep your distance and use the zoom to spot the three communication towers; eliminate the relay from a safe distance. Next, head to Op. Dog. Don't go the direct route from Op. Charlie; you don't want to disturb those Mechs too early if you can help it. Rreturn to Op. Able, then move to Op. Dog.
As you approach Op. Dog, some Mechs will emerge from the right. Order your lancemates (hopefully you still have some at this point) to engage while you continue to Op. Dog. Destroy the three communication towers making up the east relay and the mission ends successfully. If you wish to complete the secondary objective, you must destroy all remaining Smoke Jaguar Forces.
