Mission Three
Mission Objective: Seal the exit to the underground installation and proceed to Op. Baker to destroy the main material distribution point. Locate the entrance to the next underground site.
Primary Objectives: Destroy cargo lift at Op. Able. Destroy building at Op. Baker.
Secondary Objective: Destroy Smoke Jaguar Forces.
Difficulty: Medium
Mech Recommendation: Salvaged Thor or Orion armed with close-range weaponry (don't forget those heat sinks!).
Though you begin the mission at Op. Able, where you must destroy the lift leading into the underground installation, things won't be that easy. Threeharasser tanks and two Firefly Mechs emerge and surround Op. Able. If you've customized the Thor or Orion you salvaged from the previous mission, you should have little trouble blowing apart the weaker Firefly Mechs.
Once the initial defenses have been removed, destroy the lift at Op. Able to complete the first part of this mission. A Strider Mech should power up in the distance and approach to attack. Again, like the Firefly Mech, the Strider will be overwhelmed by the higher-ton Orion or Thor. Don't worry about getting leg shots on the Firefly or Strider; now that you've gained some better Mechs, you'll have no need for these relatively weak choices.
Bring up Op. Baker on the radar screen and advance. A hill should be on your right with a clear view to Op. Baker straight ahead. If you wish, you can get to Op. Baker from the rear by moving around the right side of the hill. Be careful; this area is heavily mined (your commander should warn you if you decide to take this path). If you choose this route, you'll appear behind the Champion Mech that powers up at the end of the mission.
As you approach from the front, two Puma Mechs and several APCs charge out to greet you. Perhaps more frustrating are the three helicopters that approach, fire a salvo of missiles, then retreat. If you hear or see the helicopters approaching, move your sight up and try to take them down with laser. The sooner you eliminate the helicopters (which can't take much damage before crashing), the less frustrating the mission will be.

Let the Puma Mechs come out to you; don't advance further and attempt to take on the APCs as well (and whatever else lies beyond). Pumas are fast, short and difficult to fight in close range. If you wish to salvage one, go for the leg shots. If not, then just rip into the torso with everything you've got. Order your lancemate to assist and you shouldn't have too much trouble knocking out the two Pumas. If you need to repair and rearm, return to the MFBs at the start position.
Return to Op. Baker and two more Puma Mechs should power up. Eliminate them like the others then take out the APCs, which should be driving around the outskirts of the base. As you approach Op. Baker, a Champion Mech powers up in the distance. Destroy the buildings at Op. Baker (when you hear "objective complete" you'll know you're finished) then take on the Champion Mech just past the hill on the left. He's not too tough and should go down after a few leg shots.
Bring up Op. Charlie on the radar and approach. Enter the tunnel and head into the underground installation. When you reach Op. Charlie, the mission ends successfully.
