Description: The M16 assault rifle series of weapons developed from research conducted by the US Army's Operations Research Office (ORO), created at Johns Hopkins University in September 1948. As the United States Army's standard-issue rifle, the M16 is a reliable and accurate weapon (although prone to jamming, as it's relatively easy for dirt to get into the chamber and magazine).

Description: The newer XM-177E2 is a notable improvement over its predecessor, the E1, although it's still hampered by having a loud muzzle blast and a bright muzzle flash. Description: The MP5SD6 is a variation of the world-famous MP5 9mm submachine gun with silencer. Description: LAW is a lightweight, self-contained anti-armor weapon consisting of a rocket packed in a launcher. It is man-portable, may be fired from either shoulder, and is issued as a round of ammunition. It requires little from the user--only a visual inspection and some operator maintenance. The launcher, which consists of two tubes, one inside the other, serves as a watertight packing container for the rocket and houses a percussion-type firing mechanism that activates the rocket.

Description: A hand grenade can be thrown 130ft/40m by the average soldier and is a standard battlefield weapon.

Smoke Grenade

Description: A smoke grenade can be thrown 100ft/30m by the average soldier. The grenade emits a dense cloud of white smoke for 100 to 150 seconds and is used for signaling and evasion. Smoke grenades also produce harmful hydrochloric fumes that irritate the eyes, throat, and lungs, so it should not be used in confined areas.

Antitank Mine

Description: The antitank mine will kill or disable tanks and other heavy vehicles. It is activated by 350 pounds of pressure and is therefore not detonated by personnel.

Satchel Charges

Description: Satchel charges are, by definition, improvised charges that are made out of several smaller units of explosives and placed in an easily transportable bag. They have two possible methods of detonation--a 30-second countdown timer and a radio-transmitted command signal.

Description: This version was developed from the AK-74 but radically differs from it in terms of design of separate units and combat characteristics. The AK-74 SU features a short barrel, less muzzle velocity, a high rate of fire, but a lower consistency of fire compared to that of the AK-74. The AK-74 SU is intended for special subunits of airborne troops, combat engineers, and drivers of combat vehicles.

Description: The PK machine gun is the standard light machine gun of the former Soviet Union and many of its allies. The PK is a gas-operated rotary-locked belt-fed machine gun that fires from an open bolt. The weapon is fed from non-disintegrating metallic belts. These belts are composed of 25-round sections that can be linked to any size necessary.
