U.K. Campaign: Pegasus Bridge - Night
Pegasus Bridge - Night | Pegasus Bridge - Day | Eder Dam | Truckride | Airfield Escape | Battleship Tirpitz |
Now that the Yanks have had their fun, it's time for an experienced military force to get in on the act. You're no longer a Private, you are now in the shoes of Sergeant Evans. Though the Brits have had a military much longer than the Yanks, they still make some mistakes. Like crash-landing into a field near their objective. That's never a good one to pull off the night of a surprise invasion. Pegasus Bridge is the sight of one of the war's more historic and important battles. If you don't gain control of the bridge, the beaches to the west will be hit by German reinforcement. It's imperative that you accomplish your objectives.
Objective 1: Clear the area of enemies and secure both
sides of the bridge
This is the overall objective of
the mission, but it cannot be accomplished until the other objectives are met.
You'll see this one pop up from time to time as your current objective. When it
does, play mop-up on the Nazis, but know that another, more pressing objective
will appear shortly.
Objective 2: Capture the bunker
You begin near the bridge. Don't expect a lot of
scenery for this mission, as all of the events take place in and around the
bridge. Despite the loud landing, the Germans are unaware of the British
arrival. Survey the landscape and you'll see that you are in for a heap of
trouble. There is no solid cover to protect from gunfire, just some bushes to
hide in. You get the first shot, but after that, chaos is gonna have a
parade.
There are a couple of ways you can go about this objective, such as taking the ravine to the right and trying to flank the bunker, but we've found the following to be the most effective. Get on your belly and take out your Lee-Enfield rifle. Head left towards the bushes. Get to the edge of the bushes, so you are still covered from sight. There are a couple of guards standing around talking, an MG42 gunner, and some folks inside of the bunker. Your best bet is to hit the gunner first. After the first shot, the Germans react. Quickly aim for the men inside the bunker and cap them as quickly as possible, moving left to right. Your men will handle the other two visible guards and will have cleared out the Germans around the time you finish your sniping work.
Objective 3: Regroup with Captain Price
Move forward, there's still work to do. Keep the rifle
out, as you're in for some long-range combat. Get down behind the sandbags and
do your best to pick off the German's across the bridge. Be sure to get the ones
off to the right by the fence, as they will tear you apart if you aren't
careful. Cross the bridge (the right cross-walk is recommended) keeping an eye
out for any remaining Germans. Around this time, a tank rolls in. Look left and
you'll spot Captain Price against a wall. Quickly run to him and he'll give you
your next objective.
Objective 4: Find an Army Engineer
The Army Engineer can be found across the street, up
against a fence. Help him take out the immediate threat and then talk to him
using the F key. He'll run back across the bridge. Follow him. There is no cover
on your way back. Crouching only slows you down, so stand and run, but do so in
a zig-zag pattern.
Objective 5: Get back to the Flak Gun with the Army
Engineer
As soon as you are near the Flak Gun, drop
to the ground and start crawling towards the backside. Once the Private Mills,
the Army Engineer, tells you it's ready to go, stand and grab hold of the Flak
Gun. It's time to blow up a tank.
Objective 6: Use the Flak88 Gun to destroy the tank
The Flak Gun is a slow beast. Turn it so it's pointing
across the bridge. At night it's hard to see the sight, but look closely and you
can see a black crosshair. Aim at the tank and fire. It takes a while to reload,
so if you miss once, wait until the ammo icon refreshes in the bottom right
corner of the screen and try again. With the Flak Gun pointing at the tank, you
are shielded from all enemy fire. Hooray!
Objective 1 (revisited): Clear the area of enemies and
secure both sides of the bridge
Leave the Flak Gun
and run across the bridge. It's time to do some mop-up work. Kill a few more
Germans and you and your men will drive them back. The bridge is safe... for
now.
