Level XIII: Deceiver

Your Units
Berserks

Enemy Units
Mauls
Soulless
Warlocks (will attack both you and the evil units)

Goal
Search for the Deceiver before Soulblighter's forces kill him.

Walk-through
1. This mission is unlike any other. You must use yourself as bait to attract the attention of the Deceiver's Warlock guardians and then slip away, leaving the Warlocks and Soulblighter's army to kill each other. You won't be able to kill a significant number of the Soulless/Mauls with your paltry forces, and you don't stand a chance against the Warlocks. In other words, you must work to eliminate both kinds of foes, or you'll never live to find the Deceiver.

2. Note that the Berserk carrying the scepter must make it to the Deceiver. If he is killed, remember to use one of your other Berserks to pick up the dropped scepter.

3. Let the automated Journeyman, Dwarves, and Bowmen trudge off to the southeast. Move your Berserks north until you spot a large group of Mauls and Soulless. MAP

Lead the large pack of Soulblighter's forces towards these grumpy Warlocks and let them fight it out amongst themselves.
4. Quickly swing to the west and lead your foes into the first nest of Warlocks (on a C-shaped hill). Quickly veer away and let them duke it out amongst themselves. Eventually, the Warlocks will lose this fight, but it will take a considerable number of Mauls with them. MAP

5. Continue your western movement, staying close enough to the Dark forces to keep them on your tail. MAP

6. Soon you will pass a narrow passage on the right. Don't go in there yet, but make a mental note. Pull your pursuers toward a long line of Warlocks in the west. Withdraw and let this fight work itself out. MAP

7. Now you have a choice. You can return to the narrow passageway, but you will have to bring some Dark units with you to deal with the three Warlocks who dwell within. Very difficult. MAP

8. An easier trail requires you to resume your western course, past where the long line of Warlocks once stood. MAP

9. Just beyond this point, the Deceiver waits, barely alive. You may have to deal with another line of Warlocks (on Legendary skill level). Once the coast is clear, approach the Deceiver. MAP

10. Your Berserk with the scepter will recite the incantation, or something close to it, and the Deceiver will transport you all out of this mess. MAP
