Each type of game has its own demands and strategies. Most important of all are the units appropriate to a given game. As a rule, games requiring defense demand many tough, slow units, while games of mobility are won by players with many fast units. Assassin Protect a defined unit from harm and target the protected units of your opponents. Note that the protected unit may be one of several of the same type in a group (i.e. you may have an expendable Fetch and one that you should protect). Some maps require you to protect an individual unit, a group of units, or a stationary unit. Note also that many protected units are defenseless, while others are very powerful. One map requires you to defend a single chicken that wanders wherever it pleases. Use a balanced combination of fast and defensive units, depending on the type of unit you must protect. Balls on Parade Protect your own ball and gather up those of your opposition. You will need both fast units to spirit away your friends' balls and some tough-as-nails ones (Mauls, Thrall) to protect your booty. Body Count Kill everyone else. Which units you use depends on whether your style is to make a defensive stand or probing raids on your opponents. The former requires lots of Thrall, Mauls, Bowmen, etc. while the latter is best done with plenty of Myrkridia, Ghôls, Berserks, etc. Capture the Flag Capture your opponents' stationary flag and prevent them from getting possession of yours. Demands a balanced gang of offensive and defensive units. Captures Have possession of the most balls when the clock runs out. A balanced force will allow effective collection of balls and a sturdy defense against reclamation assaults. Flag Rally Touch as many of the flags as possible before time runs out. You needn't keep possession of any of them. Load up on fast, powerful units and ditch any that will slow you down. |
