Briefing: OK, Armstrong. The Soviets have moved a large concentration of tanks into the city of Chapoi, making a direct ground assault too risky. Helicopters could do the job, but the area is defended by a pair of Shilkas. Your task is to eliminate them, wait for choppers to deal with the tanks, and then move into Chapoi. The mission begins at 10:30 on the outskirts of Sainte Marie (located at grid location Ef66).
Objectives: Neutralize the Shilka (located at grid location Ed67) stationed in the village. Clear the village (located at grid location Ed67) of any remaining Soviet forces. Proceed to Chapoi (located at grid location Ef72), then locate the remaining Shilka and eliminate it. Pull back while the Cobra gunships, designated November, deal with the tanks. Seize Chapoi.
Follow the mission leader and the infantry group toward the first Shilka. Let your fellow soldiers lead the way. They'll target and destroy the first Shilka as you near the Russian unit. There are groups of soldiers in front of the Shilka. Crouch onto the ground and target the soldiers with your machine gun.
Take out the enemy soldiers from long range as your squad seeks out the enemy Shilka. |
Once the Shilka explodes, you receive the message "Papa Bear, this is Alpha One. We've eliminated the first Shilka. Friendly forces control the village. Proceeding to objective two." Additional soldiers, as well as an enemy BMP, arrive after the Shilka goes down. Take your time and proceed patiently toward the second objective.
Move south along the road. You will encounter additional Russian soldiers, so remain in formation and with your fellow infantry. Use the plentiful bushes and trees as cover against the Russian infantry attacks. Approach Chapoi and let your fellow LAW soldiers take out the second Shilka as you patrol the perimeter and eliminate any enemy soldiers on sight. Destroying the second Shilka triggers the arrival of friendly choppers.
The Cobra gunships cause some significant damage, but there are still Soviet troops patrolling the perimeter. |
The friendly choppers take care of the tanks within Chapoi, but that doesn't mean your job is over or even easier. There are likely still Russian troops remaining within Chapoi and patrolling the outskirts of Chapoi. You're ordered to retreat from Chapoi while the choppers conduct their business. Stick with your remaining troops and tackle any Russian soldiers you spot along the Chapoi perimeter. You can also retreat if you wish and regroup near the roads to the north.
Complete the mission by following movement orders after the choppers have neutralized the tanks. Eliminate the hostile forces within Chapoi to conclude the mission.
Tank Rally--Yankee Tank Platoon Heading to Chapoi
Briefing: Lieutenant Hammer, your new platoon is being assigned to counter an assault on Chapoi (located at grid location Ee73). Intel reports large numbers of Soviet tanks and other heavy armor moving toward the town. Your platoon, call sign Yankee, starts on this road (located at grid location Fd72) heading for Chapoi.
Your M1A1 will make short work of all enemy units you encounter. |
Objective: Your first objective is to help stop the Soviet attack on Chapoi.
You're inside a powerful M1A1 and heading toward Ej72. Maintain formation with your fellow tanks. You soon encounter Russian vehicle units, including T80s, T72s, and BMPs. Target the enemy armored units and fire away. After destroying the tanks, you're ordered to stick around to battle additional armored units.
Objective: You must then press on to La Riviere (located at grid location Cj74).
Enter La Riviere to complete the second half of the mission objective. Within La Riviere, you will spot additional tanks, a Ural truck, a UAZ jeep, and a BMP. You should also spot several Russian infantry patrols. Switch weaponry as necessary and blast the enemy vehicles and infantry units. The M1A1 will likely overpower anything you come in contact with during the mission. Remain in formation with the other tanks to ensure your distinct advantage.
