Briefing: OK, Armstrong. Your first assignment as a lieutenant is to return to the Everon castle ruins by night, accompanied by Commander Gastovski. You'll rendezvous with the resistance leader, enlist his support for our upcoming invasion, and get back. You will disembark from your launch on the beach (located at grid location Hb96).
Objectives: Find your resistance contact (located at grid location Hc95). He will lead you to the camp in the castle ruins. Meet the resistance leader (located at grid location Hd91) and ask for his cooperation.
Follow the mission leader toward the campfire at one o'clock. After the conversation, proceed toward Hd91, the castle ruins. Simply stick in formation with the two soldiers to ensure your safety. When you reach the castle ruins, Armstrong meets with the resistance leader.

Objective: Get back (located at grid location Hb96)!
This is one of the simpler tasks in the game thus far--just run back to the boat! Ignore any chaos around you, and quickly scamper toward the boat, which should be targeted on your view screen. As you near the boat, the mission concludes.
Taking Command--Crossroads Near Arudy
Briefing: A small NATO detachment is holding the town of Goisse, which is being approached by an overwhelming Soviet force. Assemble a reinforcement unit and lead it to the town to meet the attack. You begin the mission at the crossroads, grid reference Di42. Time 07:30.

Objectives: Wait for Alpha Squad to arrive. Get everyone to Goisse (located at grid location Ci33). Repel the enemy attack.
You're told that Alpha Squad is coming from the north, but headquarters has lost contact with Bravo Squad. They were last reported in Arudy. New mission orders arrive to send a jeep to locate them.
Objective: Contact has been lost with Bravo Squad. They last reported in from Arudy (located at grid location Ed45). Send a jeep to locate them.

You're in command so you must instruct your fellow soldier to get inside the jeep and drive to Arudy. Do so by pressing the F2 key and then clicking on the jeep. The soldier will hop into the jeep as a driver. Now you must order him to proceed to Arudy. Click F2 again to select the soldier, then open up the overhead map by pressing the M key. Click on Arudy, and the soldier will drive the jeep to Arudy to check on Bravo Squad.
Alpha Squad arrives while the soldier searches Arudy for Bravo Squad. After Alpha Squad disembarks from the 5t truck, practice ordering them by hitting the appropriate function key and clicking somewhere on the road or the land beside the road. When the jeep reaches Arudy, you're notified that Bravo Squad is indeed there. Order the jeep to return to your position. You can do so by selecting the driver and pressing "1, 1" to return to formation.

Once the entire Alpha and Bravo squads have arrived, order the soldiers out of the jeep, then order everyone into the 5t truck. You can assume the role of driver or let a fellow soldier drive the vehicle. If a soldier drives the vehicle, just direct him to Goisse as you directed the jeep to Arudy. You receive a mission plan update.
Objective: Report to Major Johnson near the field hospital in Goisse.
Drive the 5t truck to Goisse. When you reach the field hospital, get out and approach Major Johnson. Follow the major to the "hold" position within Goisse. The Soviet attack is coming from this direction. Order your men to get out of the truck and to get in formation near the hold point.
You're also instructed on how to use the tactical menu. Press the Delete key on the number pad to activate the tactical screen. You can select individual soldiers from this screen and order them to attack specific units much easier. When the Soviet attack arrives, order your LAW launcher soldiers to assault the two BMPs. Order other soldiers against the Soviet troops. Assist in the battle with your own weapon. The mission ends if you successfully hold Goisse.
