LDS Class 1
The Wasp is in service with several navies and is also used by
various organizations as escorts for valuable shipping. The innovative
pilot position, where the pilot flies the ship 'standing up' allows
more extreme, higher G maneuvers, and the high-power PBC cannon with
its long barrel is extremely accurate at medium ranges. The flat
'blade' design coupled with its high maneuverability makes it a very
difficult target to hit, which is just as well considering its lack of
shields and defensive armor. Known variants include Gatling Cannon
equipped versions.
VS-2101B Hornet Class Police Fighter
Manufacturer: NSO Laplace
Length: 19m
Mass: 40t
Crew: 1
Maneuverability: Extreme
Offensive Systems:
PBC Cannon
Disruptor Missile Launcher
Defensive Systems:
Countermeasure Launchers
Drive Systems:
Micro Thrust Array
LDS Class 1
An updated variant of the Wasp, the Hornet was originally
designed exclusively for use by the police forces. While keeping the
innovative pilot position and high-powered PBC cannon of its
predecessor, it swaps the internally mounted engines for out-rigger
pods designed to increase low speed maneuverability. In addition the
Hornet has lost seeker missile launchers in favour of disruptor
missiles (in order to disable ships) although still suffers from a lack
of shields and minimal armour.

Rumors have surfaced recently of a new fighter in development by
NSO Laplace. Though details are sketchy it is believed that they are
working on a radical new design, the X99 experimental fighter, or
'Turret Fighter' It is believed to be a fighter that can operate in two
modes, attached and detached. In attached mode it would act as a
swiveling defense turret for a medium sized ship, such as a patcom or
corvette. In detached mode it would act as an independent wingman
capable of providing strong fire support. As the fighter would rely on
its mother ship for support it's believed to have no LDS capabilities
allowing it to mount other systems, such as an advanced mini-LDA, to
increase survivability. It's interesting to note that both the Tachyon
class advanced patcom, and Devastator class heavy corvette have custom
docking mounts on the tips of their weapon pylons, and it may be that
the X99 is designed to link specifically to these ships.
VS-F102s Firestorm Fighter

The VS-F102s Firestorm is a highly maneuverable short-range
fighter, originally designed by Von Schelling Industries for station
defense. It was withdrawn from service due to technical difficulties
with its drive and life support systems, which were considered not
cost-effective to correct. However, it is believed that a significant
number of Firestorm fighters escaped the recall, and rumours exist that
illegal workshops have copied the design and are producing their own
improved variants.
