These reanimated corpses are none too bright, obviously, and none too strong or fast - though they are Jessej Owens compared to the Wights they are destined to become. Even a Bowman can, just barely, outrun a Ghast. At this early stage on the way to Wighthood, these monsters lack the Wight's explosive ability, but they have already become infected with the stunning disease that is the Wight's second most feared weapon. To wit, any unit struck by a Ghast will be temporarily immobilized, making these otherwise pathetic fighters dangerous if you find yourself severely outnumbered by their ranks. Ghasts are best dealt with from afar, but can be attacked with melee troops with little consequence. Ghôls Ask any Dwarf you happen to see what is the most loathsome beast in creation, and he will inevitably grunt something about Ghôls. These muscular, loping ruffians boast blinding speed (not quite as fast as a Cave Spider but faster than a Berserk); a big, sharp cleaver; and quick, potent attacks. Ghôls usually travel in packs, making them very dangerous (if they can overtake your units) and very vulnerable (a single Dwarven grenade will tear up every Ghôl nearby). Although strong melee units like Berserks can rip Ghôls limb from limb, their speed makes them very effective against ranged attackers like Bowmen and enemy Soulless. Ghôls are the only units that can pick up any scrap or object strewn about the battlefield. While they can only hold one item at a time, they can hurl it long distances by targeting an opponent. Ghôls can carry and toss Satchel Charges, unexploded Dwarven Grenades, pieces of armor, dropped swords, or stray body parts (not much damage but good for style points). The most dangerous weapon a Ghôl can wield is a Pus Packet, balls of disease left behind by exploded or unhealed Wights; throwing these objects injures and stuns the target, leaving him open for an unanswerable attack. Their extreme speed make Ghôls excellent scouts in multiplayer games, and their ball-dribbling skills make them very useful in games such as Steal the Bacon or Balls on Parade. |
