Unallied Units
These units are not fixtures in either the armies of Light or Dark, but you must know how to handle them. Many of these units will appear in the solo missions as both allies and adversaries in different missions.

bre'Unor
These hulking, masked warriors have no real allegiances in this war, but they have sworn to prevent your forces from passing through their territory. Not to worry, though, they won't bother you much, unless you count pummeling you with tightly tracking boomerangs made of the bones of their enemies as a bother.

character shot They're fast, they're strong, but they're not very bright. The bre'Unor will simply charge right in, behind their wolf escort. The best way to deal with these savages is to keep your distance. Use your Bowmen (especially their Fire Arrows) to thin out the tribe and weaken those that make it past the barrage. Then bring your Berserks in to mop up. One effective strategy is to rush your Berserks toward a bre'Unor, causing him to retreat to regain his minimum attack distance; while he retreats, set off a barrage of arrows.

The bre'Unor are a bit too quick and can attack from a bit too far away for your Dwarves to be anything but a weapon of last resort; use them carefully and only if necessary.

Cave Spiders
character shot These beasts aren't exactly allies of the Dark, but they aren't exactly friends of yours, either. These oversized spiders inhabit and defend their lairs against anything living that dares enter.

They may be fragile, but they can be shockingly effective if you let them overrun you. Fire at Spiders from afar or hurl grenades at them, if you have melee troops to back up your Dwarves against the speedy arachnids. If you attack them with melee troops, make sure you can outnumber them; their bite doesn't do a lot of damage, but they can repeat their attack with withering speed.

In multiplayer games, Spiders are your top choice as scouts. No unit is as fast or maneuverable, not even Ghôls. One other great use of the Spiders is as ball carriers in games that involve balls (i.e. Steal the Bacon).
