Map Recon
Gulf of Oman (USMC vs MEC)
This map contains four Capture Points, meaning you'll have to control 3 of them if you want to bleed Tickets from your opponent. This can be extremely difficult due to the small team sizes. However, the map is very small with little distance to cover between the Capture Points. This map is ideal for a fast strike. Send the bulk of your initial force past the closest neutral Capture Point towards the one closest to the enemy's base. Leave it up to the Commander and one or two guards to capture the closer one. The Commander should lay down Artillery and provide UAV to the attacking force so that they won't be overwhelmed in the initial battle.
The railroad tracks that divide the map into two places make an ideal sniping position. You get a clear view of much of the battlefield and have the train to provide cover. If you're playing as the MEC, the crane inside of your starting base can be climbed. It may be a long way up, but you'll have a great view of the field and it is an ideal place to provide support by sniping out the enemy.
Medium Map - 32 Players/Large Map - 64 Players
The larger versions of the Gulf of Oman find each force with a solid line of bases already established. Both the MEC and USMC have an airbase that is uncapturable. The USMC's is located on an aircraft carrier, while the MEC's is located behind their front lines. Only the best pilots should spawn at the Points (although the MEC will want to bring the tank located near their airfield into the battle). Spawning back at these points without being able to effectively pilot or copilot aircraft will put your team at a serious disadvantage. While one or two squads of pilots fight for air control, the remaining infantry need to work at maintaining the frontline. Both jeeps and the transport helicopters can move across this map quickly, so you'll find lots of unguarded Capture Points quickly changing hands.
Actively defend your Capture Points. Even if you only leave a solitary soldier at each Capture Point, they can use the anti aircraft turrets located there to thwart any enemies who try to hover over your Capture Point to steal it. Since both teams start with solid frontlines, it is extremely important to coordinate your ground and air based attacks into one effective attack. If you can outmaneuver your opponent, this map will be yours.
Operation Clean Sweep (USMC vs MEC)
This map is fun to play because even though it is only a 16 player map, it is an Assault game type where the USMC has control over an uncapturable base. Even though the MEC starts off with 3 Capture Points, this still works out to being an even fight. Both sides are equipped with good air support and need to make use of it if they have any hopes of winning.
Even though the USMC base is uncapturable, you shouldn't leave it totally empty. The MEC can (and should) attack the base and disable the UAV trailer, Radar, and Artillery. The Commander should choose the Engineering Kit and stay behind hidden to make any repairs as they become necessary. The rest of the team should use the UAV information to plan the attack. Go after whichever base looks to be the easiest mark. From there, coordinate attacks on the remaining Capture Points.
A small MEC Special Forces squad should try to wreak havoc whenever possible on the USMC base by destroying key structures and vehicles (try loading up vehicles with C4 and then detonating it after they load up with troops). Don't just sit around and wait for the battle to come to you. By attacking the USMC base, you can prevent them from ever gaining a foothold on your island. This will work out nicely with a Ticket drain in your favor.
Don't forget that you can use the boats, APCs, and aircraft to traverse the water. Use the right vehicle for the job. Use Boats for fast and quiet insertions and the APCs and Helicopters to transport entire squads.
Medium Map - 32 Players/Large Map - 64 Players
Although the USMC starts the map with a Ticket drain due to the fact that the MEC controls 5 or 7 Capture Points, the advantage is actually with them. Trying to guard that many Capture Points from an oncoming army is a difficult task, and it is easy for the MEC to develop holes in its armor. The MEC should focus all of its efforts on preventing the USMC from even landing on their shores at full strength. Special Forces should strike the USMC base, even though it is uncapturable. Taking out their aircraft each time they spawn will allow your air support to focus on APCs and boats trying to transport infantry. Most of the MEC forces should guard the tip of their island closest to the USMC base - this is where the bulk of the attack will come from. Take the fight to them instead of sitting back and waiting for the USMC to develop an effective strategy.
The USMC needs to coordinate its attacks. If your team is constantly spawning and then hopping into a vehicle and taking off, they won't stand a chance once they reach the island. Form squads and attack as a team. Landing on enemy shores with a team of 6 will allow you to overwhelm a thinly stretched MEC army. Listen to the Commander when he tells you to strike a certain point. If he is doing his job correctly, he should locate where the MEC has least defenses and tell you to strike that point. Once you gain a foothold on the island, set up a defense squad to hold it down. The MEC will shift all of its focus onto regaining control of that CP. If you can keep it, you'll be able to spread your forces out on each side from there.
