It's the morning after, but a bright day won't be stopping the Nazis from pissing on your parade. It was gonna be a nice parade too, with floats and everything. The Nazis don't fool around this time, bringing out some heavy-hitting tanks. It will take all your wits to survive.
Objective 1: Assemble with Captain Foley at a safer
location
It begins with a mortar blast. As soon as
the mission begins, run to the right to avoid the mortar and regroup with your
buddies inside the abandoned house. Foley sends out a poor shlub to check and
make sure the coast is clear. He takes a cap to the head and Germans spring out
of the woodwork. Get to cover on the left side and take out the Nazis. A tank
can be heard in the background.
Objective 2: Get a Panzerfaust anti-tank weapon from the
church
That's right, there's a tank coming. The
entrance to the church is in the back left corner. U.S. soldiers are inside, but
outside, just to the right, are some Nazis laying low to the ground. Give them a
grenade and shoot as they are flushed out of hiding. Grab the Panzerfaust from
the church. You're going to have to leave one of your guns behind for now, so
switch to the gun you can live without. It's better to keep a machinegun over a
a slow-repeating rifle. Switch off of the Panzerfaust when you pick it up,
because you'll need to fight just to get to the tank.
Objective 3: Destroy the tank
Make your way left and hug the wall. You'll have to
fend off a number of Nazis on the way and they will never stop coming, so the
longer you take, the more you'll have to fight. Make your way to the AA Gun.
Keep left, because the tank is just beyond the wall. Move to the edge of the
wall, in a crouch and ready the Panzerfaust. Aim slightly up. Leave forward. If
the reticle for the Panzerfaust clears the corner of the wall, you can fire. If
not, lean back, then take a slight step right and try again. As soon as the
reticle clears the wall, fire to destroy the tank. Germans pour out of the tank,
so be prepared to mop them up.
Objective 4: Defend the church
Hurry back to the church. Move to the open machinegun
and hit F to take hold. The machinegun does not require any reloads, so feel
free to hold down the trigger as shoot the Nazi ducks in a barrel. Aim at the
t-intersection of the scope. The Nazis eventually retreat and you're called to
move forward.
Objective 5: Reinforce the Northern approach
Follow the Objective Marker on the compass and meet up
with your group. Follow their lead and take down the Nazis nearby. They'll run.
It may seem underhanded, but scope up and cap them as they flee. If you don't
get them now, they'll get you later. Better them than you, soldier. As they
begin to run, mortar fire comes down.
Objective 6: Locate and eliminate the enemy mortar
positions
This will be your ultimate goal, but
unfortunately, as you regroup with Captain Foley and co., a Panzer Tank breaks
through a wall and attacks.
Objective 7: Destroy the second tank
You need to make a run back to the church for another
Panzerfaust. To get to the church, however, you need to run past the tank. Your
buddies will provide covering fire. Run past the tank, to the right. There are
some steps where several Nazis wait. Waste them on the run and get through the
small alley before the tank can turn to find you. There are a few more Nazis up
ahead, but your brothers have got your back. So does the tank, unfortunately. It
will blow through the wall to get to you so run fast and shoot any German in
your way. It's okay to run past an enemy and not kill them. You need to streak,
now.
At this point you can follow the Objective Marker or your own eyes back to the church. Grab the Panzerfaust and get to the piece of cover just outside the church. Be prepared to take out a few Nazis on the prowl. From a crouch, you should be able to nail the tank without it even seeing you.
Objective 8: Destroy the third tank
The third and final tank is much easier to destroy.
Follow the Objective Marker and your pals do the dirty work for you. Hoorah! Now
there's just one last big thing to take care of. You've got to find that pesky
mortars.
Opjective 7 (revisited): Locate and eliminate the enemy
mortar positions (2)
There are two mortars you need
to take down. To get to them, you need to make it past the ruins of a castle
with snipers in the tower and entrenched Nazis in bunkers. This is not easy. The
trick is to wait for the squad to go. If you try and go alone, or even snipe
from behind the wall before the drop to the field, you will get picked apart.
But let the men start going through and the Nazis will have too much to fire at.
You'll take some hits, but you'll survive. Run (yes, in a standing position) as
soon as you drop down onto the field. Get about halfway to some bushes and
crouch or go prone. Once in the brush, snipe the baddies in the tower to the
right (there's one high and one low) and take out any of the bunker bitches if
you can.
The first mortar team is easy to see against the west wall and even easier to take out with a well-placed grenade. After they're gone, make your way to the trench and head right. If there are still Nazis in the area firing, toss a grenade their way. Follow the Objective Marker around the left side of the castle and you'll find a pair of goons playing Mortar Most Foul. Kill them.
Objective 9: Regroup with Captain Foley and get in the
car
With the Nazis eliminated, Captian Foley calls
for you near a garage. You won't be able to pick up any ammo for the first half
of the next shooting-frenzy mission, so restock if you can. You also will want
to guns that can shoot at a decent pace. Find Foley and go to the passenger side
of the car. Press F to get in and listen to his spiel. Looks like you're in for
one wild ride. Enjoy!
