Training | Pathfinder | Burning Village | Burned Village - Dawn | Car Ride | Brecourt Manor | Chateau | POW Camp |
Welcome to the first rails mission. The first half of this battle takes place with you in the passenger seat of a crappy French car. You ammo has been bountifully replenished, which is good, 'cause you're gonna need it. Enjoy one of the coolest missions, but buckle up, it's quite a bumpy ride.
Objective 1: Report the town's capture to regimental
HQ
Equip the Thompson or a fast machinegun and get
ready for lots of shooting. Shoot anything that moves, except for the occupants
of your car, of course. You can toggle leaning out the window with the F key and
you have much better range when leaning out the window. At the same time, it's
easier to get hit, so always pull back into the car when reloading. Don't be
afraid to shoot out of the back window either, just make sure Private Elder
isn't in your way or you'll have to hide out in Englewood until the Wolf can
arrive to take care of matters.
It's very hard to aim precisely with the car moving so quickly. You can't worry about taking out every Nazi. Aim for their abdomen and keep the target on an even line as you sweep across. This gives you the best chance of hitting (though not necessarily killing) the enemies in your way.
When the Kubelwagon's show up, point and laugh. Silly Germans. These armored cars with their cute little sidecars can be a pain. Aim for the tires or, more easily, for the driver. When the Kubelwagon's give chase, the ride tends to be a bit more steady, allowing for better aim. The drive continues as previously, until you end up trapped in an alley by a tank. Making a narrow escape, thanks to Sergeant Moody's daring driving, it's time to fight your way towards a new car. See, Sgt. Moody ain't bad at all. Aren't you glad you didn't shoot him during training?
Objective 2: Get to a new car
Quickly hop up onto the rubble and drop into the house.
There are a few Nazis in here, so take them out. Make your way to the open door.
Get to the doorjam and peer out to the right. There's a Nazi waiting. Shoot him.
Move your trio towards the Objective Meter. You'll see an open garage with a car
inside. Nail the soldier in the upstairs window. Private Elder knows how to
hotwire this baby, so it's your job to buy him some time.
Objective 3: Defend Private Elder
Take a step back into the garage and you'll find an
MG42. Press F to pick it up. There are lines of Nazis to both the left and
right. Take them all down and offer constant suppressing fire to keep the Nazis
at bay. Once Elder has the car running, hop in.
Objective 4: Get in the Kubelwagon
The escape is a short one, but there are Nazis on the
way out you can pop for fun. Once you hit the countryside, let go of the trigger
and breathe easy. Good job!
