The Heads up Display (HUD)
You have a choice of two HUD's in PainKeep Arena. One uses a numeric based display, the other a status bar display.
The HUD's can be selected from either the options menu, which can be accessed through the main menu or, if you wish to change the HUD while playing, via the ingame options menu.
The game does not need to be restarted to change the hud.
Hud type 1 - numeric hud
Reading from left to right the hud elements are:
Ammo count
The icon represents the current required ammo. Max ammo is 200 although some weapons, such as the exploding shells have differing clip sizes.
Armour count
The max value here is 200. If your armour strength exceeds 100 it will slowly count down to 100.
Scores
The first number is your FRAGS, the second (in red) the FRAGLIMIT and the final number the difference between you and the leader (if a negative number) or the difference between you and the second placed player (if a positive number). In the screenshot the player has -4 here. This means he is 4 frags behind the leading player. If the number is positive then you are in the lead and it shows how many frags you are AHEAD of the second placed player.
Health
This shows you current health status. The most health you can accumulate is 200.
Hud type 2 - Status bar hud
In this hud the ammo and armour counts are represented by a graphical satus bar. Reading from left to right the hud elements are:
