Wrangling the Fleeing Herd
You'll need more firepower than what your tank is outfitted with if you want to take out the howitzers in one attack run, and if you have to make two runs, chances are good that the roving Soviet fighters will destroy either your factory or armory.
Immediately send the armory to a geyser (use the "Go to Geyser" command) and acquire two SP-Stabbers. Next, use the constructor to build a silo so that your scavengers can get to work (the scavengers won't be under your control until the silo is built). When the silo is finished, use the "Get Repair" command to repair the most seriously damaged scavenger. If you don't, a couple of howitzer hits or a roving Soviet fighter could destroy it. And it's very hard to collect enough scrap to win this mission with only two scavengers.
Reaching the howitzers is relatively easy if you locate a natural ramp on the western side of the mountain range then proceed in the correct sequence (see screenshot). As soon as you destroy the last howitzer, hurry back to protect the scavengers from attacks by Soviet fighters and tanks. Send the factory and constructor to the choke point, keeping an eye on them to make sure they don't come under attack - like the scavengers, the constructor has taken some damage and can quickly be destroyed. Once the factory is up and running, build a couple of fighters to assist you in protecting the scavengers. Even with their help, though, you'll be spending most of this mission cruising up and down the valley between the armory (your only source of ammo and repairs) and the factory.
Destroying the Soviet recycler is completely unnecessary for winning the mission, but you do need to identify an alien ship located in the foothills around the Soviet base.
Stopping the fleeing Soviet forces is a snap, provided you collect enough scrap to build three walkers. Simply position them in the corridor to the northeast of the choke point, and they'll obliterate any enemies trying to get past them. If you're having trouble acquiring enough scrap for three walkers, you can build the cheaper minelayer and have them mine the corridor.
After the ship carrying the relic is destroyed, build a tug to retrieve the relic and return to the choke point.
