Foul-tempered omnivorous creature with powerful bite and excellent camouflage
The Giant Snapping Turtle is a foul-tempered omnivorous creatures with a well-known powerful bite. They often lie in wait partially submerged in a swampy area, and due to their excellent camouflage they gain surprise on 1-4 on 1d6 in such a situation. Any creature of man-sized or smaller slain by a giant snapping turtle will be eaten immediately; small characters can be swallowed in a single gulp, while man-sized creatures require an extra round to bite in half before swallowing.
Aggressive predators, lying in wait for prey in shallow waters
Giant snapping turtles are less massive than giant sea turtles, but they are aggressive predators, lying in wait for prey in the shallow waters of swamps, lakes, and coasts. The turtle's lumpy shell is excellent camouflage, granting it an excellent chance to surprise passing creatures. A giant snapping turtle can retract its legs and head into its shell, but when it is thus protected it obviously cannot attack or move. Like their smaller cousins, giant snapping turtles have disproportionately long necks, and can snap at enemies as far as 10-ft away. Treasure: None
