A devil far larger than any man with crimson or dark gray skin and large horns
A Malebranche (sometimes called a horned devil), is a devil far larger than any man. Its skin is crimson or dark gray and is extremely thick and sturdy. It has a large set of horns on its head owing to its name. The horn tends to be used to rank hierarchy and not as an offensive weapon. A malebranche also has large bat-like wings which it can use to fly short or medium distances. Most malebranche will be armed with a two-tined fork that deals 2d6 points of damage, although a minority of them will be armed with a barbed whip instead. The barbed whip only deals 1d4 points of damage, but will also stun an opponent for the same amount of rounds (unless a save vs. Magic Wands is made). A stunned opponent cannot attack but can still defend themselves (no loss to AC). With either one of these weapons, the malebranche will still make use of its very sharp tail. It deals 1d4 points of damage and also causes the struck opponent to lose 1 HP every following round unless a healing spell or potion is used.
Horned devils are lazy to the point of belligerence and reluctant to put themselves in harm's way. Moreover, they hate and fear any creature stronger than themselves. When they are sufficiently provoked or antagonized, the fury of these fiends can be terrifying.
A malebranche stands as tall as an ogre and is sheathed in scales as tough as iron. The flying infantry of the hellish legions, horned devils follow orders to the letter. Their huge wings and sweeping horns create an intimidating presence as they drop from the sky and strike with deadly forks and lashing tails.
Horned Devil
Devil of Hatred and Subjugation
Horned devils, also known as cornugons or malebranche, are infernal warriors that exact the will of diabolical generals and lead other devils in battle. Their bodies and weapons are forged in the Nine Hells, and they torment their foes with diabolical flames and pernicious wounds.
Inhabitants of the 6th and 7th planes of Hell with personal names that can be used to summon and control them
Horned devils are inhabitants of the 6th and 7th planes of Hell. Although considered to be greater devils, they are weaker than either ice devils or pit fiends, whom they despise. Horned devils have their own personal names which can be used to summon and control them. In combat, horned devils typically use either a barbed fork (75%, 2d6 damage) or a jagged whip (25%, 1d4 damage plus the victim is stunned 1d4 rounds—save vs spells for unlisted categories to avoid). If unarmed, these devils can attack with their sharp claws or a bite. Finally, they also can attack with their sharply-tipped tails which cause weeping wounds (1d3 damage plus 1 hp of damage per turn until the wound is bound or cured).
