Infernals in the form of humanoid toads with a mouth full of sharp teeth
Hezrou are infernals in the form of humanoid toads with a mouth full of sharp teeth. They prefer to attack with their claws and bite, and if a hezrou hits with both claws it automatically grabs its opponent, preventing any normal man-sized or smaller foe from moving as well as gaining a +2 with all subsequent bite attacks. A victim held in this way cannot generally attack, but may break free with a normal roll to open doors. As with most infernals, a hezrou can only be damaged by magical weapons. Hezrou can freely communicate telepathically, and have Darkvision to 60 feet. Each can **teleport** at-will (as a 10th-level Magic-user). Additionally, a hezrou can **cause fear** (remove fear spell reversed) as its action for a round of combat. Once per day a hezrou can summon another hezrou, but this has only a 20% chance of success; if the attempt fails, the hezrou can try again as often as desired (once per round maximum) until it succeeds.
This fiend's armored flesh is scaly and moist. Its large, toothy mouth gapes below a pair of hungry, reptilian eyes.
Hezrous serve as foot soldiers in the demonic hordes of the Abyss. Although physically powerful, they are weak-minded and hezrous can easily be duped into sacrificing themselves by more powerful demons. As they press their attacks into the heart of an enemy's forces, their foul stench can sicken even the toughest foes.
Hezrou
Demon of Obscenity and Outrage
Hezrous compose the bulk of many demonic hordes. In croaking, reeking throngs, these ogre-size brutes seek to crush and consume foes. Their oozing hides are manifestations of embodied evils. Every few moments, patches of their slimy skins erupt with grotesque transformations such as rows of mismatched fangs, fungal growths, or half-formed features. These unsettling manifestations emerge, then roil away.
Hezrous serve more powerful demons, such as nalfeshnees and mariliths. They take the abuse and intimidation of these deadlier demons and pass it on to droves of weaker dretches and manes. This predictable brutality makes hezrous useful links in the chaotic structure of a demonic horde.
When on the Material Plane or otherwise left to their own devices, hezrous recklessly indulge in destructive, short-sighted rampages. Only magic and threats from more powerful masters can curb these demons' outrages and compel hezrous to pursue greater plots. Powerful spellcasters often use sinister coercions, spells like Magic Circle and Planar Binding, or other magic to force hezrous to serve them. Roll on or choose a result from the Demonic Undertakings table to inspire how a magic-user might employ a hezrou or similar demon.
Loathsome toad-like demons with humanoid arms, slightly shorter than vrocks
Slightly shorter than the vrock, the hezrou resemble loathsome toads with humanoid arms. They are vulnerable to normal melee and missile weapons. They cause darkness at will covering a 15-ft radius. They also possess the following special abilities which can be used at will, one at a time; cause fear (as the 4th level magic user spell), levitate (as the 2nd level magic user spell), detect invisibility (objects only, otherwise as per the 2nd level magic user spell), telekinesis (as per the 5th level magic user spell, up to 300 lbs), or gate (as the 9th level magic user spell) another hezrou (20% chance of success). Hezrou and vrock will gladly fight each other without hesitation, and they both share a love of human flesh. Treasure: If encountered in their lair, hezrou will have a pile of treasure including 1d12×1,000 cp (20%), 1d6×1,000 sp (30%), 1d4×1,000 ep (10%), 1d6 gems (25%) and 1d3 jewellery (20%). In addition, they might (10%) have 1d2 random magical items.
