Winged horse prized as aerial steed, shy creatures living in highest mountains
The pegasus is the winged horse of legend. They are prized as aerial steeds as they are the swiftest of fliers, but they are shy creatures who live in the highest mountains, making them rare indeed in captivity. An average female pegasus stands 5 feet high at the shoulder, weighs 1,200 pounds, and has a wingspan of 20 feet; males are somewhat larger, averaging 6 feet in height and weighing 1,400 pounds, with a wingspan of 22 feet. A light load for a pegasus is up to 400 pounds; a heavy load, up to 900 pounds.
This magnificient horse has great bird-like wings upon its back and moves with a quiet and proud grace.
The white winged horses known as pegasi soar through the skies, a vision of grace and majesty. When they touch down on solid ground, they linger only for a moment, drinking from mountain springs and pristine lakes. Any sound or sign of another creature startles them, sending them off to fly once more among the clouds.
Noble Mounts
Pegasi are highly prized as swift and reliable steeds, being faster and less temperamental than griffons, hippogriffs, and wyverns. However, these wild and shy creatures are as intelligent as humanoids, and so can't be traditionally broken and tamed. A pegasus must be persuaded to serve a good-aligned creature as a mount, but when it does so, it forges a lifelong bond with its new companion.
Born of the Planes
Pegasi trace their origins to the Olympian Glades of Arborea, where they soar through the skies of that plane and serve as faithful mounts to the Seldarine, the pantheon of elven gods. These gods have been known to send pegasi to the Material Plane to aid those in need.
Pegasi Nests
Pegasi mate for life, build their nests in hard-to-reach locations, and give birth to live young.
Behold, the pegasus. It can outrace a dragon in the open sky, and only the best among us can ever hope to ride one. A fitting emblem for our great house, don't you think?
Pegasus
Elusive Winged Steed
Winged, sapient horses of noble bearing, pegasi are as majestic as they are elusive. Most avoid the affairs of other creatures, preferring to dwell amid idyllic pastures or floating islands, or on other planes of existence. Others serve deities of the Feywild and Upper Planes, aiding heroes in need. In rare cases, pegasi might befriend virtuous people and serve as their companions and steeds.
Pegasi are hunted by servants of evil, leading many of these winged steeds to flee strangers on sight. Roll on or choose a result from the Pegasus Offerings table to inspire how one might show their good intentions to a wary pegasus.
Pegasi are the cherished steeds of our creator, Corellon. To see one is a blessing, but to ride one proves nothing less than the love of the gods.
Winged horse prized as aerial steed, shy creatures living in highest mountains
A pegasus is a winged horse who lives in secluded areas far from civilisation. They are intelligent, but very wild and untamed. They do not trust men and must be approached very carefully. If they can be caught and tamed, they become very devoted mounts. They will however only serve a good aligned master. If mounted by a creature weighing more than 100 lbs, the pegasus' aerial agility level decreases to III. Like a horse, a pegasus will buck with its two front hooves and bite with its mouth. A pegasus stallion is equal in size and strength to a medium warhorse. A pegasus mare is equivalent to a light warhorse.
